On Sunday 24th July RMG employees took part in the third annual Isabel Hospice Colour Me Happy 5k event at Cheshunt Park in Hertfordshire.
Runners started in pristine white outfits and ended multi-coloured as they were covered in powder paint at six different coloured paint stations around the scenic course which were sponsored by East Hertfordshire based companies including RMG.
This was a record breaking year with over 1000 runners from across the county taking part in support of the hospice. Our runners pledged to raise at least £30 for the cause but all went above and beyond this total. Special mention goes to Property Manager Annie Gleeson who raised over £1000 alone!
Our Client Banking Analyst Heidi Ratcliffe was our fastest runner, completing the course in a lightening 27 minutes (even with bottle necks at some of the check points).
As a sponsor, RMG had our own paint throwing station, complete in RMG colours- It took 8 cans of paint and the man hours of Annie and her husband, but made sure we stood out at the event!
Beth Hardy the event organiser said ‘This was by far the best ever colour run event at the Hospice, not only did we see record breaking numbers in attendance, but the sun shined all day which boosted everyone’s spirits. It was lovely to see runners of all ages and abilities taking part with many running as a family, but more importantly it was great to see so many people coming together to support their local Hospice in such a fun way.’
The funds raised are still being counted, but so far the hospice has raised over £17000 with a hope to reach £30000 once all sponsorship money has been brought in. This money will help the hospice to fund a fantastic 1071 hours of nursing care for local patients.
